Pallotta Calls on NJ-05 Freeholders to Oppose “Farmland and Forest Destruction Act”

September 4, 2020

Republican candidate for Congress, Frank Pallotta, called on the Freeholder Boards of Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren Counties to pass resolutions opposing Governor Murphy and Senator Smith’s Farmland and Forest Destruction Act (S-2605). Pallotta asked incumbent Democrat Josh Gottheimer to stand up for the environment and join him in calling for bipartisan united opposition to replacing farmland and forests with solar power plants of 800 or more acres.

“It is beyond me how anyone with any consideration for New Jersey’s forests and farmland would support this plan, or even remain silent on it like Josh Gottheimer and his buddies have. Upon reading the agenda, it is more than evident that New Jersey’s Fifth District would be greatly affected, and our elected officials must step up to the plate to defend our residents. I am calling on every single Freeholder in NJ-05 to oppose the “Farmland and Forest Destruction Act”, and tell Gov. Murphy as well as Senator Bob Smith that tackling climate change cannot and will not take away from our precious farmland and forests.”

He continued: “I am running for Congress to represent every resident of my District and to protect the natural landscape that is their inheritance. I call on Josh Gottheimer to step up and join me in a bipartisan effort to oppose this dangerous legislation.”

Pointing to a report in Wednesday’s Philadelphia Inquirer, Pallotta noted:

“Josh Gottheimer’s fellow New Jersey Democrats have introduced a new energy plan that will result in the permanent destruction of thousands of acres of farmland and forests. Taking his cue from Phil and Tammy Murphy, State Senator Bob Smith (D-17), the boss of the powerful Senate Environmental Committee, has introduced a new plan to install solar panels on farm and forest land across New Jersey. The Democrats’ plan restores taxpayer-supported subsidies to corporations and their hedge fund backers in order to make these solar projects economically profitable.

Farmers, taxpayers, and environmental groups like the Sierra Club all oppose this plan.  Michelle Byers, Executive Director of the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, said the bill would toss a law that currently steers solar arrays toward brown fields, landfills, rooftops and parking lots.  Peter Furey, Executive Director of the New Jersey Farm Bureau, said the solar bill has the potential to change the landscape.

Furey told the Inquirer: ‘We don’t want energy interests coming in and dictating to local planning boards.  We don’t want it on prime agricultural land.’

If Josh Gottheimer is serious about his commitment to the environment, then he should immediately take a stand against this disastrous idea being pushed by his party and protect the taxpayers of the Fifth District from it.

Pallotta Asks Gottheimer to Take a Stand Against Democrat Plan to Replace Farmland and Forests with Solar Power Plants

September 3, 2020

Republican Candidate for Congress in NJ-05, Frank Pallotta, asked incumbent Democrat Josh Gottheimer to stand up for the environment and oppose Democrat efforts to replace farmland and forests with solar power plants of 800 or more acres. Pointing to a report in yesterday’s Philadelphia Inquirer, Pallotta issued the following challenge to Congressman Gottheimer:

“Josh Gottheimer’s fellow New Jersey Democrats have introduced a new “progressive” energy plan that will result in the permanent destruction of thousands of acres of farmland and forests.

Furey told the Inquirer: ‘We don’t want energy interests coming in and dictating to local planning boards.  We don’t want it on prime agricultural land.’

If Josh Gottheimer is serious about his commitment to the environment, then he should immediately take a stand against this disatorious idea being pushed by his party and protect the taxpayers of the fifth district from it.

Pallotta Calls on Gottheimer and his Democrat Colleagues to Reassert Democracy

September 1, 2020

RAMSEY, NJ – This morning, Paul Mulshine of the Star-Ledger published a great column about Phil Murphy’s one-man rule.

Since March, Governor Murphy has been taking drastic, unilateral actions that have negatively affected millions of New Jersey residents, without consulting anyone with relevant experience. We saw him shut down nearly every small business in the state without considering long term ramifications. We then saw him force nursing homes to readmit patients that were infected with COVID-19, resulting in thousands of avoidable deaths. And most recently, we saw him unilaterally take away the people’s right to vote in person when he himself declared the November Election “primarily vote by mail.”

“Now, we are seeing Murphy reopening the state little by little, expecting us to thank him for his “generosity”. The scariest thing is that at any moment, Governor Murphy can shut things down again – because he can. And sadly, the Democrat congressional leadership in his own state, will remain silent, as they have since the crisis began.

His excuse continues to be that we are still seeing COVID-19 cases in New Jersey. So, according to the Governor, until COVID-19 is eradicated from the face of the earth, Phil Murphy has no problem ignoring representative Democracy and ruling by edict. He pays little to no attention to a real system of measurements, like dwindling hospital, ventilation and death rates.

Josh Gottheimer continues to ignore the fact that Governor Phil Murphy is the root cause of the problem. When someone is in a position of power, like Congressman Gottheimer, one has the duty to call out other “leaders” when they are in the wrong. However, we also know that for some politicians like Gottheimer, calling out the actions of your own Party is rather difficult… Seems like that “moderate” gimmick is starting to fade away, Josh.

Pallotta Asks Democrats to Renounce Action Together NJ’s Anti-Police Petition

August 28, 2020
RAMSEY, NJ – Republican Candidate for Congress, Frank Pallotta (CD-05) asked Democrat Members of Congress Josh Gottheimer (CD-05), Mikie Sherrill (CD-11), and Bill Pascrell (CD-09) to renounce calls by the Leftist group Action Together NJ to remove police protection from schools in New Jersey.

“This is foolish and dangerous,” Pallotta said. “I do not believe we should be defunding police protection for schools and using children to make a political statement. Too much is at stake.”

Pallotta recently signed the National Police Pledge, which states:

A lawful society—free from mob rule and violent insurrection—is not possible without Law Enforcement.

Police Officers have chosen a noble profession. They dedicate their lives to upholding the law and protecting the sacred rights of their fellow citizens. As a profession, they deserve support and respect.

I stand with America’s Police and pledge to oppose any bill, resolution, or movement to “Defund the Police.”

Pallotta invited Congressmen Gottheimer and Pascrell, and Congresswoman Sherrill, to join him in signing the Police Pledge.

Pallotta Applauds DOJ Investigation Over Nursing Home Deaths

August 27, 2020

RAMSEY, NJ –  Yesterday, the Justice Department announced that it is considering investigating four states that carelessly and intentionally admitted COVID-19 infected patients into nursing homes, allowing thousands to die. New Jersey is one of them.

There have been over 7,000 COVID-19 nursing home deaths in New Jersey, which account for half the state’s death count.

Businessman and Republican Congressional Candidate for NJ-05 responded to the DOJ investigation with the following statement:

“I have been addressing this issue since Judith Persichilli’s response to Phil Murphy’s Executive Order, preventing the denial of readmission into a nursing home solely for testing positive for COVID-19. I continue to pray for the families of all nursing home patients or staff members whose lives were lost as a result of poor leadership.”

Pallotta expressed his support for the Trump administration’s efforts to obtain the information that state legislators, public health advocates, and the victims’ families have requested and not received, and suggested that the DOJ go even further, investigating all facilities licensed and regulated by the states, not just those administered directly by the government.

Gottheimer Blasted for Racist Social Media Portrayal of Frank Pallotta

August 26, 2020

RAMSEY, NJ –  Yesterday, Josh Gottheimer’s campaign released a graphic on social media attacking his opponent’s interaction with people “not wearing masks or social distancing.” The graphic contains a doctored photo of Republican Frank Pallotta with his face darkened and a certain shadow cast over him that has been labeled racist and xenophobic.

Pallotta’s campaign coalition, Italian Americans for Pallotta, has released a statement condemning Josh Gottheimer for this “mob boss” depiction of the Republican candidate.

“I find it very interesting that the Democrat Party points fingers at Republicans for inequality, yet they have no problem making obvious mob references and perpetuating these obscene epithets that seek to paint Italian Americans with a broad brush. The Democrats’ so-called love and tolerance ends right there when the situation involves a strong Republican candidate in a highly competitive District like NJ-5“, said Corrado Belgiovine of Woodcliff Lake, leader of Italian Americans for Pallotta. “As an Italian American, I am proud of my heritage. I am proud to support another hard working Italian American who I know will represent our District well.”

Concetto Formica, Franklin Borough Councilman and also leader of Italian Americans for Pallotta, says this was intentional: “This post making Frank appear to be a mobster was not a mistake, and it is just unacceptable. Is this how Gottheimer and his team perceive every Italian?”

They both concluded:

“We live in times in which the Italian American community is directly under attack, as can be seen with the recent trend of ripping down statues of Christopher Columbus nationwide. Josh Gottheimer is perpetuating a gross and deeply offensive stereotype against Italian Americans. We are neither rapists nor pillagers. We are not mobsters. Unlike Josh Gottheimer and his campaign, we are not racists. We are hard workers with strong American values, and with our help, Frank Pallotta will be our next Congressman.”

These are the same Democrats that darkened a photo, just last year, of an African American Republican Assembly Candidate in District 1.

Pallotta Slams Gottheimer for Protecting Phil Murphy

August 26, 2020

RAMSEY, NJ –  Congressman Josh Gottheimer is once again covering for his friend, our disastrous Governor, Phil Murphy. Yesterday, Josh co-wrote an opinion piece regarding the Paramus Veterans Home crisis which resulted in 148 lives lost. Josh “demanded accountability” on this issue, except his piece left out the name of a certain Governor in the article…. Phil Murphy.

Josh’s piece was 1,115 words, and not once in those 1,115 words was Phil Murphy mentioned. Not once did he demand for his accountability and not once did he mention Executive Order 103, where Murphy FORCED the Paramus Veterans Memorial Home to take patients with the virus. His negligence resulted in 148 deaths.

By comparison, Massachusetts’ Republican Governor has been handling his state’s crisis a lot differently. Within hours of being made aware of the crisis, Governor Charlie Baker immediately took action. Baker put the official in charge on leave, launched an independent investigation, has been interviewing over 100 witnesses, and looking at thousands of documents. In addition, they sent many sick veterans to local hospitals when staff at that facility began calling in sick. As a result, the number of nursing home deaths in that state is a fraction of New Jersey’s.

Unlike Massachusetts, New Jersey is unfortunately stuck with a Governor who refuses to take any responsibility for his mistakes. There is also no indication that the Murphy Administration will conduct an independent investigation.

The people of the Fifth District deserve both answers and accountability. Our Governor should be giving us these answers, and when he does not, our Congressman should be demanding them.

But instead Congressman Josh Gottheimer has made it clear that his top priority is to defend his friend and fellow Democrat, instead of the people of Bergen County.

Pallotta Responds to Murphy Budget Address: No Light at the End of the Tunnel

August 25, 2020

RAMSEY, NJ –  Today, Businessman and Republican Congressional Candidate Frank Pallotta responded to Governor Murphy’s Budget Address for the 2021 Fiscal Year. This morning, Governor Phil Murphy and his cronies came together to announce the state’s budget for 2021.

Normally during a global pandemic in which so many have lost their jobs, and some have still not received an answer on when their first unemployment check will arrive, one would expect our elected officials to fight against tax increases and create relief for those who are struggling.

Not in Phil Murphy’s New Jersey!

In 2021, Murphy plans to increase spending by $1.4 billion over 2020. His new budget includes over $1 billion in revenue from increasing New Jersey’s taxes. Governor Murphy is once again targeting gun owners with a $6.3 million firearm tax hike. He plans to increase the “millionaires’ tax” by $390 million, which the middle class will naturally end up paying as more millionaires flee the state.

Most importantly, while restaurants remain closed for indoor dining, and gyms and movie theaters are unable to operate at all, Phil Murphy is replacing the federal small-business tax cut with a 5% surcharge. What kind of leader closes small businesses, and then asks them for more money?

There is no light at the end of the tunnel in Phil Murphy’s New Jersey, and the Democratic Party continues to support him. Thousands of small businesses in New Jersey’s 5th District were affected by the Democrats’ never-ending COVID-19 shutdown, and some continue to stay closed. Congressman Josh Gottheimer offers no help to anyone. Will we be hearing more from Josh now that Election Day is approaching? Will he finally denounce Phil Murphy and his money addiction?

Murphy’s “Us vs. Them” evident in his approach to COVID funding

August 19, 2020
RAMSEY, NJ – The Pallotta for Congress campaign released a short video taken from Governor Murphy’s Monday press briefing.  In it he speaks of diversity and unity, before calling this the “ultimate Us versus Them moment in our history.”

Republican candidate for Congress Frank Pallotta said that for all his talk of “celebrating diversity” and “uniting America”, Governor Murphy continues to treat 12 of the state’s 21 counties as “Them”.

“Under the formula pushed by Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress, twelve New Jersey counties received no CARES Act funding to cope with COVID-19,” Pallotta noted.  “Four counties – including Sussex and Warren in the Fifth Congressional District – received no funding at either the county or municipal levels.”

“That’s because the Democrats adopted an Us vs. Them formula designed to shortchange rural and suburban areas,” Pallotta said.

Responding to pleas by the New Jersey Association of Counties and others, the Murphy administration has finally agreed to release some of the discretionary CARES Act funding it received from the Trump administration.  As noted in a NJAC press release from July 10th, the counties shortchanged by Murphy included Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Morris, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren.  In addition to Sussex and Warren counties, Hunterdon and Salem received no municipal funding either.

“Instead of just providing the money, the Murphy administration has demanded that each county sign a memo-of-understanding that essentially directs them how to spend the money,” Pallotta said.  “While other counties are using CARES Act funding to support local businesses and jump start the economy, Murphy is taking a strings attached approach with these counties and directing that the funds be used for things like public relations communications and contact tracing.”

“This is wrong because the money isn’t Murphy’s.  This is the American taxpayers’ money that was allocated by Congress and administered through the Federal government.  Why do some counties get to use CARES Act funding in response to the needs expressed by the public, while other counties must toe-the-line set by Phil Murphy?”

Why is it always “Us versus Them” with Phil Murphy?

Frank Pallotta Issues Statement in Response to Israel – UAE Peace Agreement

August 13, 2020

RAMSEY, NJ – Frank Pallotta, Republican Congressional candidate in New Jersey’s 5th District released the following statement regarding the Historic Peace Agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates:

“Thank you to President Trump for helping to broker this historic deal. This is a great day for the security of Israel and overall peace in the Middle East,” said Pallotta.

“I look forward to so-called bipartisan Josh Gottheimer’s statement actually giving the President credit for this incredible advancement and his strong leadership, but we understand he may need to clear it with Nancy Pelosi first,” he continued.
